The story of the compost bin...

During one of their regular trips to me in Norfolk, wanting to be the "macho man", Martin took over the burning of our old business accounts in my incinerator dustbin. It went very well, with half the box burned. The next day he wanted to finish the job, but because there was a lot of ash left, he decided to put it in the compost bin. Despite Kim's reservations, as the ash still seemed warm, Martin was un-deterred and tipped it in.  You can guess what happened!  A few minutes later a hole appeared in the side of the plastic bin with flames pouring out!  Kim grabbed a bucket of water that was sitting nearby and threw it, putting out the flames, using my carefully nurtured comfrey fertiliser that had been brewing for weeks!  Ever practical though, Martin patched up the bin with duct tape and that is how it will remain.  I always think of Martin and Kim fondly whenever I use the bin!
